Unlocking Knowledge: Online Courses in Arabic Language, Islamic Studies, and Quranic Sciences
In today's interconnected world, the pursuit of knowledge has transcended traditional boundaries, with online platforms offering unprecedented access to education. For individuals seeking to deepen their understanding of Arabic, Islamic studies, Quranic sciences, and related disciplines, online courses provide a flexible and comprehensive learning environment.
Learn Arabic Online
Mastering the Arabic language is essential for engaging with Islamic texts in their original form. Online Arabic classes cater to various proficiency levels, from beginners to advanced learners, focusing on grammar, vocabulary, and conversational skills. These courses enable students to read classical texts and communicate effectively in Arabic.
Islamic Studies Online
Online Islamic studies programs offer a broad exploration of Islamic theology, history, jurisprudence, and philosophy. Students can delve into subjects such as Aqeedah (creed), Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), and Hadith studies, gaining a holistic understanding of Islam's rich intellectual tradition.
Quranic Studies
Quran Recitation and Memorization
Learning to recite the Quran with proper Tajweed (pronunciation) is a fundamental aspect of Islamic practice. Online Tajweed courses guide students through the rules of pronunciation, ensuring accurate and melodious recitation. Additionally, Quran memorization programs support learners in committing the holy text to memory, fostering a deeper spiritual connection.
Quranic Interpretation (Tafseer)
Tafseer courses provide insights into the meanings and contexts of Quranic verses. By studying Tafseer, students gain a nuanced understanding of the Quran's guidance, enabling them to apply its teachings thoughtfully in their lives.
Ijazah Certification
For those aspiring to teach the Quran, obtaining an Ijazah—a certification granting permission to teach and recite the Quran—is a significant achievement. Online Ijazah programs connect students with qualified scholars who provide personalized instruction and assess proficiency, ensuring the transmission of authentic Quranic knowledge.
Benefits of Online Learning
The advantages of pursuing these studies online are manifold:
Flexibility: Online courses accommodate diverse schedules, allowing learners to progress at their own pace.
Accessibility: Students worldwide can access quality education without geographical constraints.
Diverse Resources: Interactive platforms offer a variety of learning materials, including videos, readings, and live sessions with instructors.

Community Engagement: Virtual classrooms foster a global community of learners, facilitating discussions and shared experiences.
Institutions like Iqra Institute exemplify the commitment to providing comprehensive online education in these fields. By embracing online learning, students embark on a transformative journey, enriching their knowledge and spiritual practice in the realms of Arabic language and Islamic studies.

Free or Cheap French Learning Resources So You Can Talk to Belgians
I will update this list as I learn of any more useful ones. If you want general language learning resources check out this other post. This list is French specific. Find lists for other specific languages here.
For the purposes of this list "free" means something that is either totally free or has a useful free tier. "Cheap" is a subscription under $10USD a month, a software license or lifetime membership purchase under $100USD, or a book under $30USD. If you want to suggest a resource for this list please suggest ones in that price range that are of decent quality and not AI generated.
WEBSITES
Lawless French - A free website with french lessons, vocab lists, reviews of different programs, worksheets, and an AI chatbot. The website is in English.
TV5 Monde - TV5 Monde is a TV network that provides French language TV to audiences globally. They also have free video lessons and listening exercises for learners. The website is available in multiple languages.
University of Montreal French Course - This is an online course in Canadian French for beginners on edX that can be taken for free. If you want college credit for it though, you'll have to pay for the certificate. The course is provided regularly but it also happens on a specific schedule so pay attention to when it starts next if you want to take this one.
Le Point du FLE - A website originally made for French tutors but it also has a lot of links to different resources like worksheets and dictionaries that can be useful for self study. The website is entirely in French.
French Today - A website with free articles and lessons explaining different aspects of French culture and casually spoken French. They have different articles explaining specific words and phrases related to different topics like tennis or mother's day for example. They also sell audiobook lessons but those are quite expensive at $70+. The website is mostly in English.
YOUTUBE CHANNELS
HelloFrench - A channel by a woman named Elisabeth who is a Belgian living in France. She has videos about vocabulary, culture, news, slang, and listening practice videos with her husband. The channel is fully in French but with English video titles. There are often French language subtitles onscreen and vocabulary words will pop up onscreen with English translations. Likely best for upper beginner to lower advanced learners depending on the video.
Easy French - A channel part of the easy languages network that has a mix of videos with phrases and dialogues for beginners and interviews with french speakers on the street mostly in Paris but they have made trips to other French speaking regions like Madagascar. The channel has dual language French and English subtitles onscreen. They also have a podcast for intermediate learners.
French Comprehensible Input - A channel with listening practice and comprehensible input for absolute beginners to advanced. The channel discusses a variety of different topics and has different series reading through and discussing French comic books and a series for absolute beginners discussing one different word or concept per video.
French Mornings With Elisa - A channel that's mostly about the nitty gritty of different aspects of grammar, pronunciation, French dictation, and French Culture. The channel is entirely in clear and slow French and subtitles are available in English but only auto generated in French. The channel is mostly targeted at intermediate learners. Elisa also has a podcast for intermediate learners discussing more history and everyday topics.
Français avec Nelly - A channel for French learners entirely in French. It's kind of a catch all channel for upper beginner to advanced learners with discussions of grammar, culture, different learning resources, and travel vlogs and listening and conversation practice. French and English subtitles are available.
Piece of French - A channel by a woman named Elsa who makes vlogs in clear french about everything from traveling to voting to history to teaching her boyfriend French. The channel is in French with English descriptions and video titles. Some videos put vocab words on screen with English translations while others don't.
maprofdefrancais - A channel about Quebec specific culture and language. The host speaks relatively quickly but subtitles are available in French. The channel is entirely in French and better for intermediate to advanced learners.
READING PRACTICE
French graded readers by Olly Richards - French probably has the most books available on storylearning. It seems to be the language they use to test out new book ideas. Every chapter of the books has comprehension questions and vocabulary lists. Short stories and conversations for beginner and intermediate, 30 day mastery series, climate change, world war 2, and western philosophy in easy French. The books are $5-$20 new depending on whether you buy them digital or not and how old they are. They're also fairly easy to find used for much cheaper either at used bookstores or on amazon.
News in French - A free daily email newsletter of news in French for French learners. They also have a paid tier at $5 a month that provides access to their archives, vocabulary lists for every article, and an audio version of their articles.
Journal en français facile - This can either be counted as news articles or a podcast because you can read it or listen to it. It's daily news articles/podcasts for intermediate French learners by Radio France International. They also provide grammar exercises and practice tests. The website is entirely in French.
bibliothèque rose - This is a series for French speaking kids age 6-9. They have original stories as well as novelizations of things like disney movies or winx club. The books range from about $5-$10. The link I provided is for buying them in North America but if you're in Europe you may be able to buy them directly from the company website.
Lire en français facile - Books made for learners of French. They are simplified versions of classic literature that are sorted by CEFR level (A1,B2, etc.). They have definitions of certain vocabulary words in the margins in French. The link I've provided is in French and has a list of them but doesn't have a link to buy them. There isn't really a convenient place to just buy all of them and you may have to do a little digging on amazon or ebay to find the one you want but they're almost never impossible to find for under $20 in my experience.
PODCASTS
Radio France - National public radio station made by the French government and also an app. This is a site made for native speakers but it does indeed have a lot of podcasts and French language music. They also have a news in easy french podcast as mentioned earlier. There's also a lot of content for children that may be easier to understand depending on your level. The website/app is free with an account.
Easy French Poetry - A podcast in slow French. Every episode the host reads out a classic French poem and discusses the history of the poem and a bit about the author. They also often talk about common analysis of the poem and explain different vocabulary words.
Learn French in Your Car - This is one of those classic learn a language in your car CDs that has been put on spotify for free.
French Voices Podcast - A series for intermediate to advanced learners. It's a series of interviews with French speakers about their regions and things they're experts in. The podcast hasn't updated in a few years but there's over 130 episodes in the archive.
Français avec Fluidité - This podcast discusses everyday topics and culture in French, mostly about France. There's also the occasional interview. Likely best for upper beginner to upper intermediate.
innerFrench - A podcast aimed at intermediate learners that discusses a variety of topics. The website and episode descriptions are in French.
Easy French Podcast - A podcast by the hosts of the Easy French Youtube Channel aimed at intermediate learners where they discuss different topics and answer questions from listeners.
SELF STUDY TEXTBOOKS AND DICTIONARIES
French all-in-one For Dummies - The for dummies series has one of the more affordable complete self study course French textbooks out there. It comes with a CD for listening and pronunciation practice. You can also buy the individual books in the series on pronunciation or grammar. The complete course book is usually around $25 new but you can also find it used fairly easily.
The Complete French Grammar Course - This series also has books on other things like pronunciation but each book is individually about $30 new. They are also available used however so if this series seems good for you there's still ways to buy it for under $15.
French Made Easy - This series is a budget option at about $10-$15 per book but there are multiple books in the series. It's good enough though.
Easy French Step by Step - This is the McGraw Hill budget option at usually less than $10 that only focuses on the most essential vocabulary and grammar. In other lists I recommend the McGraw Hill complete all-in-one series but for some reason their French version is like $40. They're also harder to find used because they double as workbooks and people write all over them.
Merriam-Webster's French-English Dictionary - This is the classic dictionary for learners with thousands of words with decent explanations and new editions are less than $8 with older editions being even cheaper.
DK French Visual Dictionary - This dictionary is organized by subject and has pictures and translations in English. It goes for $15-$30 depending on which edition you buy. In general older editions are cheaper and it's decently easy to find used.
Exercises in French Phonics - A book written in the early 80s that helps learners make sense of reading French phonetically. Much like English, it can be difficult to sound out or guess at the pronunciation of words in French and this book is designed to help with that. It can be bought from anywhere between $2-$10 depending on how new your copy is.
SERIES FOR LEARNERS AND KIDS SHOWS
French in Action - A series made in the 1980s for use in French classrooms. The series follows different people in everyday situations and is useful for beginner to upper beginner learners. You have to pay for the supplementary workbooks but in the US and Canada the videos at least are free. Outside the US and Canada you may need to pay or use a VPN to access them depending on your country.
Totally Spies - Yup, Totally Spies is a French series. The French language YouTube channel has full episodes and a few full seasons as well as clip compilations. The series is aimed at preteens so the language used is pretty fast paced but because it's an animated series there's also a lot of exaggerated visual storytelling which makes it easier to follow.
Extr@ - A 13 episode sitcom made for French learners that follows an American student moving to Paris.
The Adventures of TinTin - This website has free TinTin animated shorts, movies, tv shows, and documentaries going all the way back to the late 50s. The website is available in multiple languages.

Matchup Exchange
For @ethereal-moonglow
Your HSR match is...Jing Yuan!

I hesitated between Jing Yuan, Aventurine and Sampo! In the end Jing Yuan won because he’s more stable than the other two. Is it ironic that I say that knowing I love red flags? Yes but we shall not speak about that.
Now for the meeting… you got involved with a mentorship program for young Cloud Knights-in-training. You weren’t an official soldier, but your ability to connect with kids, your strategic mind, and your natural leadership made you an excellent tutor in basic battlefield psychology and adaptability. He was curious and decided to come in and observe the program in person but in a very bad disguise. Ditching his uniform and wearing a wig isn’t enough. And also who would expect him to do something like this? Isn’t he normally always busy? Apparently not. And it’s totally not because his kid is in the program nooooo
You figured out his identity pretty fast. I mean…golden eyes? Very advanced answers for a so called beginner? Check. Come on he’s no fooling anyone. Not even the kids cuz when you challenged him with a follow up question he responded effortlessly, like he was teasing you. The back-and-forth turned into a full-on debate, with the kids watching in fascination. Some connected the dots and you gaslit them into thinking otherwise. Needless to say, you two had a meeting after hours as to what on earth compelled him to do this? Doesn’t he trust your reputation? More at 9 because the quality of his answers might make him face an angry instructor.
Jing Yuan being the gentleman he is invited you over for tea. At least he got good taste. His excuse for such a bad costume and infiltration?
“There has been some rebellions in the youth lately. It was traced back to their instructor. Now, making Yanqing join the program was planned. But you can’t blame a guardian for being worried am I right? Not that you are suspicious lady! I was just worried about my child…Now that I’ve met you I’m jealous that he gets to spend so much time with you”
Real smooth Jing Yuan. Crisis averted, and it was totally not because the food was good. During that dinner both of you warmed up to each other and ended up cracking jokes. But there was one question…who’s the best smooth talker? Sorry but I believe he wins. Good luck making him blush!
Now how you two got close…. Jing Yuan found you fascinating. Someone who could keep up with his wit, challenge him, and wasn’t immediately intimidated by his status yet respectful? Of course he wants to develop a friendship or at least build up good relations! So naturally, he started visiting the mentorship sessions more often, using the excuse of “evaluating the program.” His visits became a routine. Sometimes he joined the lessons. Sometimes he just watched you work, secretly enjoying your energy and playfulness. It all escalated till one day Yanqing was complaining that your puzzles were too difficult! He even said jokingly that you might be the only one able to beat Jing Yuan in a game of chess. Jing Yuan has his own ego and is now curious about your level in chess…that’s why he invites you for a game. At the end of the game he saw you in another light…for such a mature and professional tutor, you sure as hell is chaotic! You didn’t playing traditionally. No, your gameplay is chaotic, spontaneous, and you made risky moves that shouldn’t have worked but did. In the end he won but he knew that you were gonna ask for a rematch and train to get better.
“I haven’t had a match this enjoyable in years…would you humor me with another?”
More matches came and he didn’t realize how at ease he felt with you. Till one day, he walked into a wall while watching you. That’s when the general knew he was smitten. It didn’t take long for him to confess. Well it depends how close the next festival is. Yes he confessed at the festival, under amazing fireworks.
Now Jing Yuan as a lover… He’s a strategist at heart, but when it comes to you, he willingly throws caution to the wind. No matter the shenaningan you want to get into, he will encourage you cuz he trusts his ability to keep you safe. Yes he’s a bit protective due to the many enemies he has. I didn’t want to start with the angst but here it is. None can convince me that he doesn’t have nightmares of the past. That man lost a lot of his friends and companions. It happens that he wakes up in sweat, dreaming that he lost you. He loves how you always manages to calm him down afterward but you can feel him being more on guard and clingy for at least a few days after.
Back to the happiness, I can see him having 3 main love languages. Gifts, words and acts of service. While he loves quality time he’s always busy. That’s why he compensates with gifts and acts of service. Every day you can expect flowers, your favorite drink and the such being delivered to you. And when he can, he whisks you away for some quality time during lunch. Jing Yuan even went as far as to one day take a day off without telling you, then spend the day cooking something for you AND hide little papers with words of encouragement all across your home. It was a very domestic date but one he secretly yearns for.
Frankly, everyone knows how smitten he is. I mean…he once did a 180 from being disappointed at subordinates to asking how your day went with a soft tone. Oh and the pet names…don’t get me started on them. He tried them all and has no shame to use them in public. If someone gets too bold around you, he won’t get angry. Instead, he’ll smile smugly and casually pull you closer, whispering something in your ear that instantly flusters you and gets the point across. What a diplomat.
All of this to say that Jing Yuan is a very devoted and loving boyfriend. Considering the things he witnesses, he loves how doting and understanding you are. It’s a break from the darkness without being cheesy. That’s why he makes sure to tell you every day how much you light up his world.

hey its been a while. been busy with programs (learning latex) and tutoring my friend in japanese (beginner level, working her way up to ~n4) and apparently also being a chef (I make some banging noodles...). let's talk about more fun things like tbhx art
for those that recall, last year there were a series of images posted ft. each hero independently with a shared theme of "photos". most of the top 10 heroes were, in these images, looking at the camera lens (exception for hero x looking at the camera through his mirror reflection, but that's a hero x thing)
the only two heroes who were not, at the moment of the photo being taken, aware of the camera/looking at it were ghostblade and ahu

i think this is rather interesting; because with all the other photos, we have at least some context for the photographer. nice is taking a selfie, e-soul is captured in a recording, the johnnies were doing PR, both lucky cyan and loli were posing for their photos, and dragon boy is in an ad, queen walking into a movie shoot(?), then hero x seen preparing for his broadcast.
but who took the photos for ghostblade and ahu?
by reading the captions (which I cannot be assed to translate all that here. im tired as fuck), you'll notice an unseen 小凸/Xiao Tu behind every photo. these images are from xiao tu's POV; who, then, is xiao tu?
in our perspective as viewers, perhaps they are part of a running gag for this actor-eqsue au, as one of the staff members? maybe they're a camera guy???
in universe (assuming these photos are, in fact, within the same plane of reality as the animated story will be), I would expect whoever fulfills the role of xiao tu to be a member of the hero commission or a character that appears in the last 3 episodes... whomp whomp
not exactly the point. my point is, whoever is taking this image, has done so without (as far as I can tell) the explicit permission of ghostblade and ahu + ahu's owner. and again, these photos are experienced and seen by xiao tu, but not necessarily taken by them; most of the photos in this series were discovered by xiao tu, and it's implied someone else captured it in photo.
who would take a photo of ghostblade like this? who would want a picture of ahu like this?
i'm not so sure for ghostblade, but my best guess for ahu... I think it was a villain, maybe the not darth-vader clone man. or some other villain idk. nefarious. what's up with a dog and his owner huh. what's so special about this unremarkable moment!!!
one more thing of note: queen is the only one, other than the aforementioned above two, who has her photo in "layers". that is, the degree of separation between "queen" and you, the viewer, occurs in 2 steps: first, in the initial photo that captures queen on set, then again as that photo is set to be a computer wallpaper of sorts. (this technically also occurs for the other girls, but the context is slightly different, so I'm not going to count them; you could also make the argument to include the johnnies, I guess, but I'm being arbitrary with this)
I also want to point out that the captions for these photos have been mostly about a set, with characters akin to actors, and the camera pointed at them for the purpose of filming their action. these choices are intentional. there are meant to be cameras pointed at queen, and the film reel around ghostblade is also intended to convey that this moment, intimate as it is, serves as lens into a personal life beyond the scope of a hero
you remember in the opening, that guy starting at an image of queen, and all of the heroes represented by their "image" in cards? yeah. what's up with that!
even hero x is filmed, with his image as a gif, captured "live".
#to be hero x#tbhx#off topic but 凸 is also slang#and often used online as a synonym for the middle finger#like my cn keyboard has 凸^-^凸 as a preset emoticon#link click has also gotten me unreasonably paranoid about numbers#so if it turns out the number of likes on the johnnie's socmed posts are important#boy how was I supposed to figure that out.

If you don't mind sharing do you have any advice on getting started with 3D sculpting?
Hey there! If you know the basics at all, which means a general navigation of the bog-standard 3d sculpting toolsets you'll find in software, my advice is to "Just jump on in and play with it! Then you can worry about fine tuning the craft!" But if you don't have anything to start with at all, you don't have access to any classes or a tutor, then my go-to rec would be Glen Southern's videos and tutorials/classes ,which you can dip your toes into over at this youtube channel! Right here!
Easy to follow, clear instructions, pleasant videos, and links to many resources available. Nomad is my rec for 3d sculpting software for a beginner if you're looking at budget (it's incredibly affordable at 15 USD) and if you have an ipad to run it on. Zbrush is of course an amazing program, but I'd still rec nomad first to play around with (and, hey, Nomad's actually really powerful. You can do a lot more than just play around in it). Blender is another option as well, though its sculpting tool isn't quuuiiiite as good as programs that purely specialize in sculpting. Still, check out that youtube channel and that might help you get a start.

Is anyone else who's following me learning how to play an instrument / already make music, and if so, what instruments or programs do you use? I am an absolute beginner, and the three main instruments I have are stylophone, keyboard, and a pocket drum machine.
I'm not asking for free tutoring or anything (though maybe a couple pointers for how/where you learned general stuff wouldn't hurt) but just... parallel play? I think is the phrase?
Though I'm very excited about the prospect, I am also intimidated by the amount of stuff to take in, and I feel more confident and motivated to learn something new when people I know like friends and acquaintances are doing the same kind of thing, excitedly sharing their process on their personal projects as it progresses to completion. All I'm saying is it would be nice to not feel alone in this regard!
#i know theres probably discord servers or social media sites for thar#but a lot of them are so big that i get intimidated immediately.#i just kinda want a low key discussion / checkup with like 2-5 people at most#but none of my friends irl share that hobby with me 😅

Best ways to make money online for beginners
In today's digital age, the internet offers a plethora of opportunities for individuals to earn money from the comfort of their homes. Whether you're a student, a stay-at-home parent, or someone looking to supplement their income, the online world has something for everyone. In this guide, we'll explore some of the best and most accessible ways for beginners to make money online.
Freelancing: One of the most straightforward ways to start making money online is by freelancing. Websites like Upwork, Fiverr, and Freelancer connect freelancers with clients looking for services such as writing, graphic design, programming, and more. As a beginner, you can create a profile highlighting your skills and start bidding on available projects.
Online Surveys and Reviews: Companies are always seeking feedback, and they are willing to pay for your opinions. Websites like Swagbucks, Survey Junkie, and Vindale Research offer cash or gift cards in exchange for participating in surveys, watching videos, or writing product reviews. While the payouts may be modest, they are an easy and low-effort way to start earning.
Affiliate Marketing: Affiliate marketing involves promoting products and earning a commission for each sale made through your unique affiliate link. Beginners can start by joining affiliate programs of companies like Amazon Associates, ShareASale, or ClickBank. Create content around the products you're promoting, such as blog posts or videos, and share your affiliate links to earn a percentage of the sales.
Online Tutoring: If you excel in a particular subject, consider becoming an online tutor. Websites like Chegg Tutors, Tutor.com, and Wyzant connect students with tutors for one-on-one sessions. As a tutor, you can set your own schedule and rates, making it a flexible option for those with expertise in various subjects.
Content Creation on YouTube: YouTube is not just a platform for entertainment; it's also a lucrative space for content creators. Create videos around your passions or expertise, and once you've built a following, you can monetize your channel through ads, sponsorships, and merchandise. Quality content, consistency, and engagement with your audience are key to success on YouTube.
Sell Handmade Products on Etsy: If you have a crafty side, Etsy provides a platform to sell handmade or vintage items. From jewelry and artwork to customized gifts, Etsy allows you to turn your hobbies into a profitable venture. Invest time in creating appealing product listings and providing excellent customer service to build a positive reputation.
Remote Customer Service: Many companies hire remote customer service representatives to handle inquiries via phone, chat, or email. Websites like Remote.co and Indeed list remote customer service jobs that allow you to work from home. As long as you have good communication skills and a reliable internet connection, this can be a great entry point for beginners.
Making money online as a beginner is more achievable than ever, thanks to the diverse opportunities available. Whether you choose freelancing, affiliate marketing, content creation, or selling handmade products, the key is to start small, stay consistent, and continuously improve your skills. With dedication and effort, the online world can become a rewarding source of income for anyone willing to explore its vast possibilities.
